Power Platform using
Client Challenge
The client needed to enhance the standard workflow approval process in D365FO to support conditional approval of sales shipments, based on sales order amount, customer priority, and production lead times. The estimated effort for implementing this functionality within the D365FO was 120 hours, which the client found to be cost-prohibitive. Moreover, the proposed solution lacked the scalability to easily extend the approval logic with additional conditions in the future.
Results
  • • The development of automation for the new process took half the time — 60 hours instead of 120
  • • Greater flexibility in configurations: changes do not require releases or downtime of D365FO for deployment
  • • Employees receive the necessary information and notifications directly on their phones
Why Us
Power Platform has a number of limitations, such as performance issues, additional costs for connectors, and restrictions on data extraction. We not only know how to work effectively with Power Platform, but also when its use will bring the greatest benefit to the business.
Objective
Develop an external application for flexible approval of shipment documents based on a set of business criteria, with real-time data retrieval from D365FO.
Our Approach
Technology choice: for the implementation, we leveraged the low-code Power Platform technology, integrating it with D365FO through Dataverse for seamless data exchange.
Algorithm configuration: in Power Automate, we designed a flow that evaluates the approval criteria and triggers approval requests.
Mobile application development: a mobile app was built in Power Apps, allowing users to view document details and approve or reject them with comments.
